Thank you for considering a membership with Abingdon Fire Company. Our members are our greatest resource and we look forward to you joining our ranks. We are proud to be professional volunteers, delivering life saving and property preservation services to our community.
Currently Abingdon accepts 22 new members preceding the third Friday of May, August, and November. Please apply well in advance of these dates if you are interested as there are administrative steps that can be completed prior to the established dates. Candidates possessing prior Fire or EMS experience will be considered for admission at any time throughout the year on a case-by-case basis.
If you would like to join, please fill out the application form. The Human Resources Manager will contact you to schedule an interview. The process, requirements, training and benefits to become a volunteer Firefighter/EMT will be explained to you during the interview. There is a one time $25 membership application fee that is due during your interview. This can be paid in either cash or check and a receipt will be issued.
